Pleyel Quartett Koeln is the ensemble who champion neglected Classical era string quartet repertoire. After recording Pleyel's Prussian Quartets nos. 4-6 in 2009 the group devoted itself to a thorough study of 19th century period performance practices. The quartet is now recording three string quartets by Adalbert Gyrowetz. Which is a brand new pieces, not yet being recorded and a pleasent surprise for every of us! The quartet are from Op.29 and Op.13 as listed above, the preview is now up in Amazon.

The cover is the right one, but you are talking about the music on the Solomon-quartet-CD.
ReplyDeleteThe "Pleyels" recorded three different quartets. One in D major from op. 13 and two from op. 29.
Also an excellent recording, like their 2 Pleyel - and the Klughardt-recordings.
Thank you for your corrections and indeed a pleasent surprises that now we have three more quartets from Gyrowetz. When I posted this releases I haven't got the pieces and just duly assumed they are the same set as the "Solomon". The pieces now corrected and thank you for visiting my blog.
