The Parker String Quartet Introduces New Second Violinist (2013)

Grammy Award winner, The Parker String Quartet has announced their second violinist, miss Ying Xue. Ying shall replaces ex-member Karen Kim is leaving to pursue other artistic endeavors.

It is with great pleasure that the PARKER QUARTET announces the appointment of Ying Xue as the quartet's second violinist beginning May 1, 2013.  An accomplished chamber musician and soloist, Ms. Xue has played and collaborated with many of the world's great orchestras and artists.  A fellow graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, Ms. Xue received graduate degrees in performance and chamber music under the tutelage of Donald Weilerstein and Miriam Fried.

Ying Xue was born in Urumqi, China and began violin studies at the age of four. At age 22, she won First Prize in the 2007 Corpus Christi Competition and was the Third Prize winner at the Irving M. Klein International String Competition in 2008. As a soloist she has played concertos with the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony By the Sea in the United States, and with the Nanning Symphony Orchestra, Jinfan Symphony Orchestra, and Yinfan Symphony Orchestra in China. Ms. Xue finished her Bachelors and Masters degrees at the New England Conservatory of Music as the recipient of the Irene M. The Parker String Quartet in now reside in Minneapolis. Their recording of Ligeti String Quartet is the first winner of 2011 Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance.
